In this 30-minute webinar, history buff and author Rod Hofer will show photos and talk about the fascinating story of a small community of Hutterites who lived in the Transylvania region of Romania before their sudden escape over the Alps in 1767. They fled to avoid the forceful removal of their children if the parents did not recant their Anabaptist faith. Rod will also talk about the Saxon Germans and Romanians with whom the Hutterites interacted and show photos of some of the historic castles, churches, and villages you could see on the Romania Hutterite & Culture Tour.

During this Asia-focused event, former educators and MCC staff in Asia, Bert and Martha Lobe, will whet your appetite for their Spring 2019 Mountains & Monasteries tour to China, Tibet, Nepal, and Hong Kong. Hear about walking the “Dragon’s Back” in Hong Kong, the sights, sounds, and smells of strolling through temples and palaces in Tibet, and seeing the incredible Himalayans in Nepal. Former Conrad Grebel College President Jim Pankratz, who lived and worked in India, will describe how the theme "West Meets East" will be explored in the places, people, and events that will be encountered by travellers on his upcoming India tour. Jim will also talk about people who journeyed to India in previous centuries and the testimony they left of their hopes, astonishment, confusion, and transformation.
