Brian Avery has been working within the events and attractions industries for over an 18-year period. For more than a decade, Brian has concentrated his efforts by providing safety & risk management services to those industries. He has obtained his experience from organizations such as SeaWorld, Discovery Cove, Universal Orlando, Cedar Point, GES Exposition Services, and numerous other locations as a consultant. His familiarity of the industry, combined with a B.S. in Health, Leisure, and Sports, a Post-Baccalaureate Graduate Certificate in Industrial Engineering; with a concentration in Safety and Ergonomics, a M.S. in Hospitality and Tourism Management and his latest endeavor as a PhD student studying the safety and risk management practices of the tourism, events and attractions industries, has positioned him as an industry authority. His presentations are a must for any event professional.
Bill Avery will also conduct webinars from time-to-time. Bill Avery has an extensive background in entertainment safety & security. His specialized career began in 1976 as the Safety Manager for Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida. He remained there until his promotion to corporate headquarters of Anheuser Busch Companies, Inc., in St. Louis, MO. In this position he assumed corporate safety responsibilities for the Busch Entertainment Corporation.
In 1986 Bill returned to FL and joined SeaWorld Parks, Inc., a division of Harcourt, Brace & Jovanovich (HBJ). Bill accepted a position as Director of Risk Management. After nine months he was promoted to VP of Safety, Security, Rides, and General Maintenance for Boardwalk & Baseball, Inc., a rides amusement park and home of the Kansas City Royals spring training facility.
In 1990 Bill decided to open his own business dedicated to preserving the safety of the entertainment industry. Bill is the founding partner of Avery & Avery-a firm that provides safety consulting and expert witness services to attorneys and insurance providers.
